Arena Forest and Dam

Head off to the central lowlands and spend a day in the Arena Forest and Dam. Begin bird watching along the road, which passes through the Arena Forest, and then continue your bird watching while walking along one of the many forest trails that begins at the side of the road. In this area several forest species may be seen, including Rufous-tailed Jacamars, Tanagers, Honeycreepers, Yellow-rumped Cacique, and Blue Dacnis.

Enjoy a picnic lunch at the Dam. Afterwards spend some time bird watching around the dam, here you may see; Least or Pied-billed Grebes, White-winged Swallows, Fulvous Whistling-ducks, Hawks, Yellow-headed Caracaras and Wattled Jacanas. Depart the Dam by another route cutting through a different part of the Arena Forest and continue the forest bird watching here before heading back to base.
