Las Lapas to Lopinot
Depending on your fitness level this ride can start at Paria Springs, Arima or to ease
muscles a bit you can start at Las Lapas. From Paria Springs it's an eight-mile ride
gaining 1,200 feet of elevation and from Arima it's a ten-mile ride gaining 1,500 feet.
The Las Lapas junction is located at about 2000 feet above sea level with gorgeous views
spanning before you. From there you take an abandoned dirt country road in a fast down
hill into La Pastora. The first section is a gentle slope through rainforest and if you
wish this is a great spot for looking at birds and learning about the rainforest. The
downhill then becomes steeper and faster, though here one can go as fast as they wish,
as it is not that difficult a trail and you can regulate your speed is you wish, of fly
if you wish. The trail then opens out into agricultural areas, then a mixture of agriculture
and rainforest. The trail then becomes a bumpy country road with some steep sections.
Eventually you enter La Pastora, a rest and lunch is had at a historical site there.
From here we ride along country roads and single track to Lopinot.
