North Coast Drive

This drive is undoubtedly one of the world most spectacular drives. Drive through the suburbs of Port-of-Spain viewing the "gingerbread" homes of old. Head up into the winding road of the Northern Range and over to the north coast. Take a stop at the Maracas Look-out where you will view the spectacular north coast of Trinidad, with its rugged rainforest covered mountains. Then ease down to Maracas Beach where leisurely swimming in the warm tropical waters of the Caribbean Sea is your choice, you can choose one of the several beaches we will encounter as we driver further along the coast. At Maracas, for those who want to enjoy the culinary delights, a Shark and Bake is a must.

At Blanchisseuse we turn south onto the rainforest draped Arima Blanchisseuse Road. This passes through Avocat, where for the more adventurous, a short hike to Avocat Falls is an option (time permitting). Take stops along the way to soak in the extraordinary beauty of the region. Tea at the world famous Asa Wright Nature Centre is the next stop. Then head down into Arima, where it may be arranged to stop at a Shaman's house. Head back to your hotel after this.
